Thing 7 - something technology related

Well, technology is fun and makes the job of librarians a bit more exciting, but I will make some comments about technology used in the medical field - specifically the operating room. A friend works in the G(eneral)OR every day & oftens tells me about the new products he uses. Synthetic body parts, tiny cameras and robots that allow surgeons to work inside the body without opening it & affecting other systems. It is interesting that we can use technology to do so much of importance, what could we do if there was more money to research the really innovative ideas? A friend who is a patent attorney was recently tellingme he is working with an independantly wealthy man who put his time & effort into researching HIV & believes he has found a cure. There is so much going on.......... Who knows how many cures the world holds, until priorities are put on the things that really matter?
